Commissioner Census Balochistan, Noor Ahmed Pirkani on Sunday revealed that the population of Quetta city exceeded 2.6 million. He dispelled the impression that the city, which is the capital of Balochistan province was 1.7 million.

Balochistan population crosses 20.6 million: Commissioner

Mr. Pirkani also informed that the population of Balochistan also exceeded 20.6 million people. “We tried our best not to miss a single individual and ensure counting”, Mr. Pirkani told Daily Quetta Voice in an exclusive interview.

He said political parties and people had expressed reservations about the method of census conducted in 2017. “This time, we tried our level best to ensure transparency”, Mr. Pirkani informed.

Political parties demanded extension in census date

Almost all political parties have demanded of the federal government to make sure fair census in Balochistan and that no individual should be missed. The Balochistan Assembly had also adopted a resolution with regard to the extension in the census date. The house had also expressed reservations about the preliminary results of the census commission about various districts of Balochistan.
