The Balochistan government cancelled all allotments of bird hunting areas on Thursday. Allotment and cancellation of areas under the 18th amendment is the power of the provincial government, an official handout issued here said.

“We will fully defend our right and authority”, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said. The government has constitutional and legal protection by using this power, the Chief Minister mentioned.

Govt’s decision cannot be challenged in any legal forum

Mr. Bizenjo stated that government’s decision cannot be challenged in any legal forum. Trophy hunting will also be banned, he mentioned. There is no need to earn money and relationships at the cost of the lives of innocent birds and animals, he noted. Perhaps, the CM was referring to some influential people of Balochistan allowing and supporting people from wealthy countries for hunting in various parts of Balochistan.

Balochistan famous for hunting of houbara bustard

If anyone is confused about the government’s decision, he should contact the Department of Forests and Wildlife, the Chief Minister suggested.

Balochistan is famous for wildlife and famous tourist points. Every year, high level government officials and members of the royal families from Gulf States visit different parts of Balochistan for hunting of houbara burstard. The rampant hunting has been widely criticized by the environmentalists and activists working for the preservation of the nature.
