Change of traffic police uniform a positive step: IG Police Balochistan

QUETTA: The Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh termed the change of uniform for the traffic police a positive step towards police reforms. He expressed these views while addressing a function in connection with the change of uniform for police at the police line Quetta on Friday.

Senior police officers and jawans were also present on the occasion.

“I know this move would be criticized but I consider this a first step towards improvement”, Mr Sheikh stated. He said the police force must address the grievances of the masses and come up with the expectations of the people. “We are their servants, not masters”, Mr Sheikh mentioned.

He said Quetta city was facing the worst traffic jam issues and he was taking all positive and effective steps to resolve the traffic issue.

The police chief admitted that there were some elements within the force involved in taking bribes. However, he said the majority of the personnel were committed to upholding the banner of the rule of law in the province.

The Police chief directed the traffic policemen to double their efforts and change their behavior along with their uniforms while performing their duties.
