QUETTA: The Chairman of Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) and head of the opposition alliance, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has been acquitted by the Balochistan High Court in a land grabbing case.

A division bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Ejaz Swati and Mr. Justice Amir Nawaz Rana ordered the acquittal of Achakzai in the land grabbing case.

The court closed the FIR filed against him, which included charges of interference in government affairs and land grabbing.

The FIR was registered by Quetta police and district administration following threats to raid Achakzai’s house during the presidential elections in March this year. The case was successfully defended by Kamran Murtaza Advocate and Habibullah Nasir Advocate on behalf of Achakzai.

Police and district administration had conducted a raid at the residence of Achakzai earlier this year and accused him of interfering in the government affairs and land grabbing. One of his personal guards was also arrested by the police.
