KARACHI: Karachi police have arrested 17 individuals following a deadly clash between two factions of the Bugti clan, which left five people dead and two others critically injured. The incident occurred late Thursday night near the residence of Ali Haider Bugti in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area of Karachi.

The altercation involved two groups, one led by Fahad Ahmed Nawaz Bugti, and the other by Ali Haider Bugti. During the shootout, Fahad Bugti, a nephew of the late Baloch chieftain Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, was killed. Ali Haider Bugti, who is also related to the Bugti chieftain, was injured.

Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) South, Asad Raza, confirmed that four other individuals were killed and two others were injured in the clash. Initial reports had incorrectly stated that three people were injured.

Police have apprehended suspects from both factions involved in the conflict. Eight arrests were made shortly after the incident, with an additional nine suspects detained early Friday morning. Among those arrested were two gunmen.

The injured members of the Bugti family have been taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) for treatment, and police are monitoring their condition as they are considered suspects in the investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 PM on Thursday at Nishat Commercial Lane 10, within the jurisdiction of the Darakhshan police station. Among the deceased were 50-year-old Fahad Bugti and 35-year-old Naseebullah Bugti. From the Ali Haider group, the casualties included Mir Mohsin Bugti, Mir Essa Bugti, and their gunman Ali. The wounded, including Ali Haider Bugti and his associate Qaim Ali Qadir, are currently receiving medical care under police supervision.
