QUETTA: Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Minister’s focal person for anti-polio, met with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to discuss the ongoing battle against polio in the province. Also in attendance were Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafaqat and Coordinator Emergency Operation Center Inam Khan Mandokhel.
During the meeting, they addressed the prevention of polio, the successful implementation of the anti-polio campaign, and related challenges. Ayesha expressed concern over the recent reports of polio cases in Balochistan, announcing that a special anti-polio campaign would be launched over the next three months. The intensified campaign is scheduled to be executed in October and November to curb the spread of the disease.
Chief Minister Bugti assured full administrative support to the anti-polio teams to ensure the smooth execution of the campaign. She emphasized the importance of strict action against any breaches of protocol within the polio program. “Administrative negligence will not be tolerated,” Bugti stated firmly, advocating for frequent implementation of the Extended Program of Immunization (EPI) in high-risk districts over the coming months.
The Chief Minister highlighted the potential to completely eradicate polio from the region with concerted efforts and unwavering commitment. The meeting concluded with a strong resolve to tackle polio with enhanced vigor and collaborative strategies.
