QUETTA – The Balochistan Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the series of terrorist attacks that took place on August 26 in various parts of the province. The resolution was a merged version of two separate resolutions initially submitted by the treasury and opposition members.

Ali Madad Jattak, the Balochistan Agriculture Minister, and Mir Younas Aziz Zehri, the opposition leader in the provincial assembly, each submitted their own condemnation resolutions. The assembly decided to combine these into a single, unified resolution to reflect the collective stance of the house.

In a rare show of unity, both the treasury and opposition benches strongly condemned the terrorist incidents, expressing their solidarity and sympathy with the victims’ families and the security forces who continue to fight against terrorism in Balochistan.

Call for Action Against Terrorists

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, while wrapping up the debate, called for decisive action against those responsible for the attacks, emphasizing that the blood of innocent people had been shed. He reiterated that there would be no negotiations with individuals whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent citizens.

“Dialogue can only take place within the constitutional framework of Pakistan. We are ready to seek peaceful solutions, but not at gunpoint,” Bugti declared. He also spoke extensively about the governance challenges in Balochistan, calling for an overhaul of the system to effectively address these issues.

Voices of Solidarity

Opposition leader Mir Younas Aziz Zehri, Raheela Durrani, the Balochistan Education Minister, and Ali Madad Jattak, among others, took to the floor to express their condemnation of the terrorist activities. They reaffirmed their support for the security forces and emphasized the need for a united front in the battle against terrorism.

The assembly’s resolution and the passionate speeches delivered by its members underscored the resolve of Balochistan’s political leadership to stand firm against terrorism and work towards a peaceful, democratic future for the province.
