From Our Correspondent:

Ziarat, home to the world’s second-largest juniper forest, faces relentless deforestation as the ruthless cutting of ancient juniper trees continues unchecked.

This alarming destruction threatens one of Pakistan’s most treasured natural heritages, with minimal intervention from the authorities responsible for protecting the forest.

The centuries-old juniper trees, which play a crucial role in maintaining the region’s biodiversity and combating climate change, are being felled at an alarming rate.

Despite the government’s claims of forest conservation, illegal logging persists, raising serious questions about the lack of accountability within the departments tasked with protecting this national asset.

Environmentalists have long sounded the alarm, yet deforestation in Ziarat continues unabated.

The destruction of these ancient trees must be urgently addressed to preserve Pakistan’s ecological legacy. Where is the accountability? Immediate action is needed to save the juniper forest before it’s too late.
