Dawood Ahmed:

ISLAMABAD: A senator from the Balochistan National Party (BNP) has officially tendered his resignation after voting in favor of a recent constitutional amendment, defying the party’s stance.

The senator, along with another BNP lawmaker, had supported the amendment adopted by both houses of Parliament the previous day.

BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal had issued a stern directive to Senators Qasim Ronjho and Naseema Ehsan Shah, urging them to step down or face legal consequences for violating the party’s policy.

While one senator has resigned, the fate of the other remains unclear as BNP leadership deliberates their next steps.

Sajid Tareen, a key leader of BNP, confirmed that an important meeting was currently underway, where a final decision regarding the issue would be made.

The party is expected to release an official statement soon.
