Behram Baloch:

Gwadar: In response to rising illegal trawling activity in the Arabian Sea off Gwadar, 100 levies personnel have been assigned to the Fisheries Department. This action follows a request by the Director General Fisheries Balochistan after a recent attack on a fisheries raiding team by armed illegal trawlers.

Illegal trawling has severely impacted marine resources and disrupted the livelihoods of local fishing communities. The additional security is expected to enhance enforcement efforts, ensuring the safety of fisheries personnel during anti-trawling operations.

The Fisheries Department, supported by law enforcement, has committed to intensified crackdowns on illegal trawling, aiming to secure marine life and protect local fishermen from the influence of the so-called “trawler mafia.” This deployment marks a decisive move towards restoring order in Balochistan’s coastal waters.
