QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced plans to recruit 12,000 teachers in two phases under a merit-based contract policy, aiming to enhance education quality across the province. Government Spokesman Shahid Rind shared these updates during a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Friday.

In the first phase, 3,891 teachers, shortlisted through tests conducted by Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, will receive appointment orders next week. The second phase will see the recruitment of 9,000 additional teachers. Candidates will be selected based on their academic credentials, ensuring transparency and fairness.

To combat examination malpractice, the government has implemented strict measures. Administrative officers will replace teachers as superintendents at 430 examination centers, all equipped with CCTV cameras. Frontier Corps (FC) personnel will monitor the surroundings, with FIRs filed against unauthorized individuals found within 300 meters of any center.

The government has also directed the Anti-Corruption Establishment to investigate fake degree complaints. Candidates submitting fraudulent documents will face disqualification from government jobs for three years, immediate arrest, and legal action.

Spokesman Rind highlighted the introduction of competitive salary packages for contract teachers to ensure their commitment to quality education. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ongoing education reforms, stating that merit and transparency will be upheld at every stage.

These measures reflect the Balochistan government’s focused strategy to address governance issues and improve the province’s education sector.
