QUETTA: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has initiated repair work on an 18-inch diameter gas pipeline damaged in a sabotage incident near Quetta’s Western Bypass in Akhtarabad. The damage disrupted gas supply to several areas, prompting swift action from SSGC.

According to the company, repair work began early Wednesday morning after law enforcement agencies provided necessary security clearance. SSGC’s technical teams have been at the blast site since last night and aim to complete the restoration by midnight to minimize inconvenience to affected customers.

The management of SSGC is closely monitoring the progress to ensure the pipeline is repaired and gas supply is restored at the earliest. “We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers and request them to make alternative arrangements during this period,” stated an SSGC spokesperson.

The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in the region, which frequently targets critical infrastructure. Authorities have intensified security measures to prevent further such incidents.

Customers are advised to stay updated through official SSGC channels regarding the restoration of gas services.
