Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Central Chairman of the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), was injured in an incident at his residence in the Marriabad area of Quetta on Friday.
Police revealed that initial investigations suggest the incident was a robbery attempt.
The accused, who is reportedly a neighbor of Hazara, was arrested shortly after the attack. Hazara sustained injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, took notice of the incident and directed senior police officials to thoroughly investigate the matter. CM Bugti emphasized the need for swift action to ensure justice, as confirmed by his spokesperson, Shahid Rind.
The HDP, in a statement, condemned the attack, calling it a pre-planned conspiracy and demanded enhanced security for its chairman. They praised Hazara for his courage in resisting the attackers.
