News Desk:

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram, Javedullah Mehsud, sustained injuries on Saturday after unknown assailants opened fire on his convoy near Bagan, as confirmed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif.

This attack follows the signing of a peace agreement earlier this week between warring factions in Kurram district, ending over three weeks of mediation efforts. The clashes, rooted in decades-old land disputes, have resulted in at least 130 fatalities since November. Prolonged road blockades in the region also caused severe shortages of food and medicine.

The incident occurred as preparations were underway to dispatch an aid convoy carrying essential supplies to Kurram, marking the potential end of an 80-day-long road blockade that has isolated the conflict-hit area.
