A view of the destruction caused by gas leakage in Quetta

Staff Reporter:

Quetta – A gas leakage blast injured a husband and wife in the Sirki Kalan area of Quetta on Tuesday morning. According to police, the blast occurred due to a gas leak, causing severe burns to the couple. They were rushed to the Burn Unit of Civil Hospital Quetta for emergency medical treatment.

Health professionals acted swiftly to provide timely care, but incidents like this are becoming increasingly common in Quetta due to low gas pressure and unannounced gas load-shedding. Residents blame prolonged gas outages, particularly during the ongoing winter season, for such tragedies.

As Quetta and other parts of Balochistan remain under the grip of cold and dry weather, families rely heavily on gas for heating. However, the combination of inadequate supply and unannounced load-shedding has led to repeated accidents. Officials are urged to take immediate steps to address the issue and prevent further loss of life.

This latest incident highlights the growing risks faced by residents amid poor utility services in the provincial capital.
