Quetta: Balochistan faces a critical challenge with 13,000 vacant teaching posts in Balochistan, according to Education Secretary Saleh Muhammad Nasar. Efforts are underway to address this issue through contract-based recruitment to operationalize non-functional schools, especially in remote areas.

“So far, 3,800 teachers have been appointed on contracts to fill the gap,” Nasar said. He emphasized that filling the 13,000 vacant teaching posts in Balochistan is a priority, and the government is working on a transparent recruitment process to ensure fairness.

SBK Teachers Protest and Recruitment Updates

Addressing the SBK teachers’ protest, Nasar explained that over 9,000 candidates appeared for tests and interviews. Due to allegations of irregularities, the provincial cabinet decided to appoint 4,000 teachers on contracts. This step aims to address the broader issue of 13,000 vacant teaching posts in Balochistan while ensuring transparency.

Action Against Absent Teachers

Nasar highlighted measures against absenteeism in the education sector. “We terminated 700 teachers identified as chronically absent through the real-time monitoring system. Additionally, 2,200 other cases have been flagged for further action,” he said. Strict directives from Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti underline the importance of teacher attendance to improve education in the province.

The Education Department’s reforms aim to fill the 13,000 vacant teaching posts in Balochistan, ensuring better access to education and operational schools in underserved areas.
