Health Desk:
In a significant development, successful negotiations have been held between the Balochistan Health Department and the Young Doctors Association (YDA). The Chairman of the YDA, Dr. Yasir Achakzai, confirmed this progress during an exclusive conversation with Quetta Voice.
Arrested doctors were released late night from district Jail Quetta and the YDA announced to end its agitation.
There were no immediate words from the health department and the district administration of Quetta regarding this development.
It is worth noting that police had previously arrested YDA President Dr. Bahar Shah, and Hafiz Mandokhail under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). Despite obtaining bail from the court, they were re-arrested by the district administration.
Dr. Achakzai stated, “The government has accepted our demands, and we are now waiting for the release of our colleagues. Once they are released, we will formally announce the end of the strike in government hospitals.”
This strike had severely impacted healthcare services in government hospitals across the province. The agreement marks a major step towards resolving the ongoing healthcare crisis in Balochistan.
