Islamabad – In a major win for medical students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has been directed to withdraw the controversial decision that reduced medical seats from 333 to 194. A new letter restoring 333 seats (or potentially 347) is expected to be issued within three working days.

The issue, which primarily impacted HEC, Ex-FATA, and Balochistan students, was strongly defended in the Standing Committee for Health by student representatives and Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi. His compelling arguments convinced the Advisor to the Health Minister to take immediate action, leading to the reversal of the seat reduction.

Note that Official letter of seats restoration is yet awaited.

This decision brings relief to medical aspirants from HEC, Ex-FATA, and Balochistan, ensuring that more seats remain available for MBBS and BDS admissions. The official notification from PMDC is expected soon. Stay tuned for further updates.
