Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA: Former Chief Minister of Balochistan and National Party chief Dr. Malik Baloch has stressed that dialogue is the only way to address the province’s ongoing challenges. Speaking to reporters after an assembly session, he said efforts to engage with disgruntled Baloch leaders had made progress during his tenure but were abruptly halted, leading to a worsening situation.

Calls for Free and Fair Elections

Dr. Malik emphasized that Pakistan must ensure transparent elections, as fair electoral processes lead to good governance, which is crucial for resolving Balochistan’s issues.

Support for Makran Fishermen

Highlighting the problems faced by fishermen in the Makran coastal belt, he said that addressing their concerns would help stabilize the region. “As Chief Minister, I took strong action against illegal trawling in the Arabian Sea, benefiting thousands of fishermen who finally experienced relief,” he stated.

Election Concerns and Commitment to Non-Violence

He claimed that he is the legitimate representative of Makran but alleged that a manipulated Form-47 had been imposed on the people. Dr. Malik reiterated his party’s commitment to non-violence, human rights, and women’s rights, stating, “The National Party rejects violence in all forms and believes in peaceful political struggle.”

His remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in Balochistan, where governance, security, and economic challenges remain pressing concerns.
