QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has said that if the bodies of terrorists killed in operations had been left behind, the missing persons’ list would have grown. Speaking at a press conference alongside federal ministers, he stated that terrorists seek to destabilize Pakistan but will face the consequences. “We had the option to leave the dead terrorists behind, but that would have added to the missing persons’ list. Instead, they were buried through the Edhi Foundation,” he said.

Bugti also emphasized the need to eliminate the prevailing sense of deprivation among the people. He highlighted the ongoing development process and the government’s efforts to bring Balochistan at par with other developed regions.

For the first time in history, he noted, the provincial and federal governments are jointly working to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people. He assured that governance would be implemented in letter and spirit and that terrorists would not be allowed to endanger innocent lives.

The chief minister further said that the government is seriously addressing the issue of missing persons. Lawmakers are being consulted to resolve the matter permanently. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is taking a keen interest in addressing Balochistan’s issues.
