Qaseem Shah:
Quetta, Balochistan – A significant infrastructure development is underway in Quetta, as a major road project nears completion under the supervision of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti. The 3.7-kilometer-long road will enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the city.
Key Features of the Quetta Road Project
- Flyover Construction: A one-kilometer-long flyover is being built in front of the Kidney Center on Samungli Road, linking it to Sabzal Road. This will significantly reduce daily traffic congestion in the area.
- Six-Lane Road: The project includes a six-lane road, service roads, 20-foot-wide footpaths, and a dedicated utility corridor.
- Strategic Connectivity: This road will serve as a crucial link between the North-South Road and major city arteries.
- Project Cost & Progress: With an estimated cost of around six billion rupees, the project has already achieved 30% completion.
Impact on Quetta’s Traffic Flow
Currently, travellers from Airport Road have only one primary route passing through Kohla Phatak. Any blockage on this route leads to severe traffic disruptions, affecting the entire city. The alternative route, the Western Bypass via Khezi Chowk, also faces heavy traffic congestion. This new road project aims to provide a seamless alternative and facilitate smoother traffic movement across Quetta.
Extended Road Network for Better Connectivity
The project’s expansion will connect the Baleli Bypass beyond Airport Road and link Sarai Garagai to Kuch Road. Additionally, the southern extension will follow the drainage channel near Bolan Medical College, reaching Sariab Customs and connecting Sibi Road with Mastung Road. The six-lane, high-speed road will significantly enhance urban mobility and transport efficiency.
CM Balochistan’s Commitment to Infrastructure Development
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti is personally overseeing the project and actively addressing any challenges to ensure timely completion. The provincial government has directed all relevant departments to expedite the construction process to deliver this critical infrastructure project as soon as possible.
This road network development marks a major step in improving Quetta’s urban infrastructure and will provide long-term benefits for residents and businesses alike.
