LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has agreed to play an active role in resolving the longstanding political and economic issues of Balochistan. He made this commitment during a meeting with National Party (NP) President Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch in Lahore.
Dr. Malik urged Nawaz Sharif to take practical steps for restoring peace, addressing enforced disappearances, and supporting the democratic process in the province. In response, Nawaz Sharif assured the delegation that he would soon visit Balochistan and engage with key stakeholders to help stabilize the situation.
Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the meeting focused on the law and order crisis, political tensions, and the urgent need for development in Balochistan. “Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N leadership listened attentively to Dr. Malik and expressed their commitment to supporting peace and reconciliation,” he said.
Dr. Malik stressed that Balochistan’s problems are political in nature and require political solutions. He also called for Nawaz Sharif’s involvement in addressing the BNP-Mengal protest and the release of detained workers.
