From Our Correspondent:
KARACHI, April 11: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has emphasized the need to strengthen economic and educational cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, saying that the evolving global landscape demands deeper partnerships to build a sustainable future.

He made these remarks during a luncheon hosted in his honor by Russian Consul General Mr. Andrey Fedorov at the Russian Consulate in Karachi. The event focused on enhancing bilateral ties and fostering academic and economic collaboration between the two nations.
Governor Mandokhail announced that during his upcoming visit to Russia, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will be signed between three public-sector universities of Balochistan and Russian counterparts. The participating institutions include the University of Balochistan, Lasbela University, and University of Loralai. He will be accompanied by his Principal Secretary Hashim Khan Ghalzai and the Vice Chancellors of the respective universities.
Speaking at the event, Governor Mandokhail said, “Russia has a remarkable history — from being a developing country in Europe to emerging as a global superpower. Its journey offers valuable lessons for countries like Pakistan, especially in the areas of urbanization, industrialization, and technological development.”
He said Balochistan, with its unique geographic location and vast natural resources, holds immense potential for international investment — particularly in higher education, minerals, agriculture, and livestock. “With Russia’s technical expertise, we can uplift our rural communities, advance towards industrial development, and improve the overall quality of life for our people,” the governor added.
He emphasized that vocational and technical education is key to reducing poverty and unemployment in the province. “With dozens of technical institutes across Balochistan, we are eager to benefit from Russia’s experience to equip our youth with modern skills and training,” he said.
Governor Mandokhail also underlined the importance of people-to-people connections, stating that closer cultural and academic exchanges can strengthen the bond of friendship between the two nations and secure a brighter future for generations to come.
Earlier, the governor expressed gratitude to Consul General Andrey Fedorov and his team for their warm hospitality and organizing the luncheon in his honor.
