Quetta (News Desk) – The Balochistan High Court has temporarily suspended a controversial directive issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Quetta. The directive had made it mandatory to seek prior permission from the district administration for organising press conferences and other events at the Quetta Press Club.

The constitutional petition challenging the decision was filed by Hasan Kamran, represented in court by Advocate Imran Baloch. The case was heard by a division bench comprising Justice Rozi Khan Bareech and Justice Sardar Khan Halimi.

After initial arguments, the court suspended the Deputy Commissioner’s order and adjourned further proceedings. The bench stated that the directive would remain inoperative until the case is decided.

This decision is being seen as a positive step for the protection of freedom of expression and the rights of journalists in the province, especially as press clubs serve as key venues for public discourse and media engagement.
