Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA – Balochistan lost one of its brightest stars as educationist Farid Khan Tareen, a graduate of Government College University (GCU) Lahore, was martyred in the tragic blast that rocked Gulistan in district Killa Abdullah.

Farid Khan, known across the region for his dedication to promoting education in remote parts of Balochistan, was the head of a private educational institution in Gulistan. He had returned to his hometown after completing his higher education in Lahore with a dream to uplift his community through knowledge. Friends and colleagues recall him as a passionate educator who believed that real change in Balochistan could only come through literacy and youth empowerment.

“He didn’t just teach children, he inspired an entire generation to think differently,” said a local resident. “His institution was a ray of hope in a conflict-hit area.”

The deadly blast that claimed his life also injured many others and has once again raised concerns over security in the province. But for those who knew Farid Khan, his legacy lives on — in classrooms, in textbooks, and in the aspirations of the students he mentored.

Civil society members, students, and educationists across the province have paid tribute to Farid Khan, calling for the government to not only bring the perpetrators to justice but also to carry forward his mission by investing more in education in neglected areas.
