Qaseem Shah, News Desk:
QUETTA – A disturbing case of police brutality has emerged from Quetta, where a traffic police head constable was allegedly assaulted by a fellow policeman after enforcing traffic laws. The officer had reportedly stopped an influential person from parking in the no parking zone and asked the driver to comply with road safety regulations, when the situation escalated into violence.
A video of the incident has gone viral, showing the injured constable with blood in his mouth, sparking public outrage. Social media users and civil society have strongly condemned the attack, calling for legal action, government accountability, and strict disciplinary measures.
According to sources, the vehicle involved was allegedly linked to influential individuals. This is not an isolated incident. In recent years, traffic law enforcement officers in Quetta and across Balochistan have faced repeated assaults, particularly when stopping vehicles without proper customs clearance or registration.
Such incidents raise serious concerns about police misconduct, abuse of power, and the lack of protection for officers enforcing vehicle compliance laws.
Public Demands Justice and Police Reform
Legal experts and rights activists have urged the Home Department of Balochistan, law enforcement authorities, and the provincial police chief to initiate an impartial inquiry and ensure justice for the assaulted officer.
“This violence against law enforcers must stop. The government should not tolerate abuse of power within its own ranks,” a senior legal analyst stated.
So far, no official statement has been released by the Quetta police department regarding disciplinary action or arrest of the accused officer.
