A powerful explosion shook the Rakhni area of Barkhan district on Monday, leaving one person dead and at least 10 others injured, in what officials suspect could be a terrorist attack targeting civilians in a busy market zone.

According to local authorities, the deceased has been identified as a resident of Sakhi Sarwar, a town in Punjab province. The blast occurred in a densely populated area, causing severe damage to nearby shops and vehicles, and triggering widespread panic among residents.

Rescue teams and security forces responded swiftly to the scene, cordoning off the area and evacuating the injured to nearby hospitals. Medical officials confirmed that several victims are in critical condition, and emergency surgeries are underway.

The security forces have launched an investigation, while a bomb disposal squad and counterterrorism units are working to determine the nature of the device used and whether a specific target was involved.

Though the exact cause of the explosion remains unconfirmed, intelligence sources indicate that the incident may be linked to terrorist activity, which has intermittently targeted civilian populations in restive parts of Balochistan.

This latest attack has once again raised concerns about public safety and the need for enhanced counterterrorism efforts in the region.
