Upon arrival, President Xi received a warm and ceremonial welcome at the airport, where Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally greeted him alongside other top officials. In a symbolic gesture of friendship and alliance, Kazakhstan’s air defense forces dispatched fighter jets to escort Xi’s plane as it entered the country’s airspace.

The atmosphere at the airport was festive, with Kazakh children and teenagers waving Chinese and Kazakh flags, expressing joy and goodwill toward the Chinese leader’s visit. The two presidents observed a military march-past by a guard of honor, while helicopters flew overhead displaying the national flags of both nations.

Inside the VIP lounge, President Xi and President Tokayev were treated to cultural performances by local youth, showcasing Kazakhstan’s rich traditions and the growing people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The summit is expected to further deepen China’s ties with Central Asian nations and focus on regional development, trade, and security cooperation.
