June 21, 2025: In two separate incidents of violence, bomb blasts hit Balochistan’s Kalat and Jhal Magsi districts, resulting in the martyrdom of two security personnel and injuries to four others, according to official reports. Both attacks involved roadside improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and are being investigated as targeted assaults on security forces and critical infrastructure.

Jhal Magsi: Roadside IED Targets Development Zone
The first explosion occurred in Gandawah, the district headquarters of Jhal Magsi, where a roadside IED detonated near an ongoing development project. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Jhal Magsi, the device was strategically planted on the roadside, possibly to disrupt construction activity.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in this incident. Law enforcement agencies, including emergency response teams and border security units, reached the site quickly, securing the area and launching a thorough bomb disposal and area clearance operation.
Kalat: Deadly Blast Near Security Checkpoint in Mangocher
In a more serious incident, a powerful IED explosion struck near a security checkpoint in the Sheikh Haji area of Kalat’s Mangocher region, reportedly targeting a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), according to Levies Force sources.
The blast resulted in the martyrdom of two security personnel, with four others critically injured. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby trauma center, and security forces have since launched a search and surveillance operation in the surrounding areas to locate any suspects.
Security Reinforced, Investigations Underway
These back-to-back blasts have once again raised alarms over the growing use of IEDs in domestic terror incidents and the risks facing law enforcement and military personnel in high-risk zones.
Security experts highlight the urgent need for enhanced border security measures, intelligence coordination, and bomb detection systems to prevent further casualties and ensure infrastructure protection in Balochistan.
