Musakhail, Balochistan – A mild earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Musakhail district in the early hours of Sunday, injuring at least five people and damaging numerous mud-built houses across the area.
According to local sources, the tremors were felt across several parts of the district, including the town of Kingri. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Musakhail for medical treatment. Most injuries were caused by the collapse of mud walls, which are common in the region’s traditional housing.
The district administration reported that a large number of houses constructed with mud and clay suffered partial or complete damage. A detailed damage assessment survey is currently underway to evaluate losses.
In response to the situation, authorities have declared an emergency in the district to ensure immediate relief and medical assistance. Residents in vulnerable structures have been advised to take precautions and remain alert for potential aftershocks.
Officials are urging the public to stay connected with local emergency services and report any urgent needs or damages for swift action.
