Quetta, July 20 —Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has confirmed that the harrowing video of a man and woman being murdered—allegedly in the name of honour—has been officially acknowledged by provincial authorities. In a statement released via social media, the Chief Minister said that law enforcement was immediately directed to take action after the video surfaced online.
According to the Chief Minister, the victims have been identified, and the incident took place a few days before Eid-ul-Adha. Crucially, the government has become the complainant in the case, which has been registered under anti-terrorism laws. One suspected perpetrator has already been arrested.
“This horrific crime will not go unanswered,” Bugti stated. “The law will take its course, and all those involved will be brought to justice.”
The state’s decision to register the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act underscores the gravity of the crime and signals zero tolerance for such brutal acts. The Chief Minister’s swift response has been welcomed by rights activists and civil society members who are calling for public justice and institutional reform.
The viral video has ignited national outrage, once again highlighting the persistent threat of honour-based violence in parts of Pakistan and the urgent need for systemic accountability.
