CM Bugti Acts on Balochistan Killings: DSP Suspended, 11 Arrested

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken strong notice of a recent double murder incident, declaring it a “test case for the state” and promising that justice will be served at all costs.

Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister revealed that he had taken notice before the video of the incident went viral and had immediately instructed the Inspector General of Police to arrest all those involved.

“Whoever is involved in this case will be arrested, produced before the court, and punished according to the law,” said Bugti.

So far, 11 suspects have been arrested, and further raids are being carried out to apprehend others connected to the incident.

DSP Suspended, No One Above the Law

CM Bugti confirmed that a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has been suspended, and transparent investigations are ongoing.
He reaffirmed the government’s stance that no individual or group has the right to take the law into their own hands.

“I will not engage in victim-blaming. The state has always stood with the oppressed, and it will continue to do so in this case as well,” he said.

Not a Newlywed Couple — Rumors Denied

Responding to misleading narratives circulating on social media, Bugti clarified that the victims were not a newlywed couple, as had been falsely claimed.

“The woman had five children, and the slain man had five or six children. There was no marital relationship between them.”

Ban on Illegal Jirgas: Tribal Culture Not Above the Constitution

The Chief Minister took a firm stance against the illegal jirga system, stating that such parallel justice mechanisms have no place in a constitutional democracy.

“We will not promote illegal jirgas. We must operate within the framework of the Constitution. It’s time the state’s authority is restored. Tribal societies were never truly disarmed, but now the state must assert itself,” he asserted.

Bugti also emphasized the need to educate the public about the facts and counter false information.

“Our duty is to ensure justice through legal and constitutional means. The government will fulfill this responsibility at all levels.”
