From Our Correspondent:
Gwadar – A tragic incident unfolded off the coast of Gwadar as the bodies of four more fishermen were recovered following the capsizing of a fishing boat in the Arabian Sea. Rescue operations, which continued through the day, have now concluded, according to the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF).
This brings the total number of confirmed fatalities to five, while one fisherman miraculously survived the disaster. The capsized boat was carrying fishermen originally from Karachi’s Ibrahim Hyderi, Ali Akbar Shah Goth, and Machhar Colony.
Out of the recovered bodies, two have already been transported to Karachi, while three remain in Gwadar.
Officials say that the fishermen had ventured into deep waters when their boat was caught in high waves, leading to the tragedy. The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum confirmed that all missing persons have now been accounted for, marking the completion of the rescue mission.
The incident has sparked grief across fishing communities in both Balochistan and Sindh, highlighting the urgent need for better safety measures and emergency response support for those who risk their lives at sea.
