QUETTA – In a major step towards improving public services, the Government of Balochistan has approved the revival of non-functional hospitals across the province with assistance from the Pakistan Army. The decision was made during a high-level cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, government spokesperson Shahid Rind said the cabinet took several landmark decisions to improve healthcare, agriculture, energy, education, employment, and law and order.

Key Decisions from the Balochistan Cabinet Meeting:

Healthcare

Inactive health facilities in remote areas will be reactivated to provide essential medical services at the community level, ensuring access to quality healthcare for citizens across Balochistan.

Agriculture

Farmers will be offered agricultural tractors at a 50% subsidy to strengthen the province’s agriculture sector. The cabinet also approved the upgradation of trained crop reporters in the Agriculture Department from Grade 6 to Grade 11, in compliance with a Supreme Court directive.

Renewable Energy

A high-level committee has been formed to assess the feasibility of 150-kilowatt solar energy projects in Lasbela and Hub. The initiative aims to reduce power shortages and promote clean energy solutions.

Mineral Development

To attract investment and promote transparency, the cabinet approved the creation of the Balochistan Mineral Development Fund, designed to regulate and enhance mining activities across the province.

Pension Reform

The Balochistan Contribution Pension Scheme Rules 2025 were approved, introducing a sustainable pension model for government employees to reduce long-term financial pressure on the provincial budget.

Digital Education

In a move to promote e-learning, the government decided to enhance its existing laptop distribution policy, making digital education more accessible to students across Balochistan.

Job Creation

Recruitment has been approved for vacant positions in all provincial departments, including Sports and Youth Affairs, to create employment opportunities for young people.

Security and Law Enforcement

Several decisions were made to improve the law and order situation:

  • Establishment of two new police stations in Kohlu.
  • Enhanced security deployment for Mangi Dam.
  • Creation of CTD police stations in Rakhni and Barkhan.
  • Redefining CTD jurisdiction in Loralai and Sibi.
    The cabinet also amended arms license rules, ending free exemptions, and approved a unified policy for the security of ministers, advisors, and lawmakers.

Land Reclamation

The government has decided to reclaim 20 acres of land leased to a private medical institute, following a formal request by the federal government.

Women’s Empowerment

The cabinet approved the appointment of Kiran Baloch as the new Chairperson of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women, reaffirming the government’s commitment to gender equality and women’s rights.

These wide-ranging decisions reflect the provincial government’s focus on inclusive development, transparent governance, and efficient public service delivery in Balochistan.
