ZIARAT – In a shocking incident, armed men abducted Assistant Commissioner Ziarat, Afzal Baqi, from the scenic tourist destination of Zrze in Ziarat district on Sunday.

According to local sources, the official was visiting the area with his family when gunmen intercepted him at gunpoint. While his family members were left unharmed, the assailants took him away along with his young son. The gunmen later released the child, as well as the AC’s driver and security guard, a short distance from the scene.

Before fleeing, the attackers torched the Assistant Commissioner’s official vehicle, leaving it completely destroyed.

Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Zakaullah Durrani, confirmed that a search operation is underway to recover the abducted officer. He said all available resources are being deployed to ensure Afzal Baqi’s safe return, adding that law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the surrounding areas to track the culprits.

The incident has raised serious security concerns in the region, known for its picturesque landscapes and frequent tourist visits.
