From Our Correspondent:

Bolan, Balochistan: A tragic incident unfolded in the Bhag Nari area of Bolan district where two people, including a woman, were shot dead on allegations of “siahkari” — a local term often associated with so-called honour disputes.

According to Levies officials, unidentified assailants opened fire on the victims and fled the scene before security personnel could arrive. Authorities have launched a search operation to trace and arrest the culprits.

Background

Cases of alleged honour killings continue to plague rural Balochistan, where women and men are often targeted over accusations without legal evidence. Rights groups argue that such killings highlight the need for stronger state presence, better policing in tribal regions, and awareness campaigns to end the misuse of customs that cost innocent lives.

While the identities of the victims have not yet been officially disclosed, local residents report fear and concern that the incident may fuel further tribal tensions in the area.
