Quetta, September 20, 2025 – A high-level inquiry has exposed a massive wheat corruption scandal in the Balochistan Food Department, revealing mismanagement and embezzlement worth billions of rupees.

According to the inquiry report, initiated on the directives of DG Anti Corruption Balochistan Abdul Wahid Kakar, two senior officers were found guilty of large-scale irregularities. The audit uncovered a shortfall of 231,860 wheat bags, causing a financial loss estimated at Rs. 21,221 million to the national treasury.

The officers identified as Muhammad Dawood Kakar (ex-District Food Controller, Loralai) and Abdul Hameed (ex-Assistant Food Controller, Loralai) were found involved in misuse of authority, corruption, and negligence of duty.

Authorities confirmed that strict disciplinary measures and punishments have been recommended against both officers, while further investigations are underway to prevent similar incidents.

The wheat scam has once again highlighted issues of accountability and transparency in Balochistan’s food sector, raising serious concerns over the management of government wheat reserves.
