Quetta: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan hosted an awareness session with a delegation of students and faculty members from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Quetta Cantt, emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in building a corruption-free society.
Led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rafiqullah, the delegation was welcomed by Director General NAB Balochistan, Mr. Nauman Aslam, who stressed the importance of student engagement in fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical values.
During the visit, students toured NAB’s various operational wings, gaining insights into complaint processing, inquiry procedures, and prosecution mechanisms. Deputy Director NAB, Mr. Khuram Shehzad, delivered a lecture titled “Functions of NAB and Role of Students in Eradication of Corruption”. He explained NAB’s three-pronged strategy—Awareness, Prevention, and Enforcement, highlighting sections of the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999 and its amendments.
Mr. Shehzad underlined that students, as future leaders, must adopt ethical practices and remain vigilant to effectively combat corruption.
Addressing the delegation, DG NAB Nauman Aslam reiterated the Chairman NAB’s vision of prioritizing high-profile corruption cases while strengthening preventive measures. He urged students to embrace character-building and integrity, serving as ambassadors of accountability within their communities.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students and faculty raised questions and suggestions. On behalf of the delegation, Dr. Rafiqullah presented a commemorative shield to NAB officials. Both sides praised the initiative as a meaningful step towards advancing anti-corruption awareness in Balochistan and promoting a corruption-free Pakistan.
