Islamabad: The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has identified 38 fake and unregistered nursing colleges operating across the country. The council has cautioned students and parents that degrees from these institutions will not be recognized and graduates will not be eligible for registration or professional practice.
The breakdown of these unapproved colleges is as follows:
Islamabad (5): Capital College of Nursing and Medical Health, Edward College of Nursing, National Institute of Modern Languages and Sciences, The Institute of Health Sciences, Unique Technical and Professional.
Punjab (25): Including Boston International College of Nursing, Muhammadan College of Nursing, Quaid-e-Azam Institute of Medical Sciences (Lahore), Professional College of Nursing (Gujranwala), Punjab Nursing Academy (Jhang), Best College of Nursing and Midwifery (Sahiwal), King Abdullah College of Nursing (Sargodha), Iqra College of Nursing (Sialkot) and others in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Attock, and more.
Sindh (5): Aman Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing, Mediaid School of Nursing, Pre Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences (Karachi), College of Nursing (Hyderabad), Kainat Institute of Nursing (Khairpur).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (2): Mardan College of Nursing and Orbit College of Nursing and Allied Sciences.
PNMC highlighted that Pakistan already suffers from a critical shortage of qualified nurses and urged families to ensure admissions are made only to registered institutions.
