Qaseem Shah:
Quetta: The death toll from the Quetta suicide attack near the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters has risen to 12, after two more injured victims succumbed to their wounds during treatment.
Hospital sources confirmed that 24 injured have been discharged, while eight others remain under treatment, including two in critical condition at the Trauma Center.
The blast occurred on Tuesday in Quetta’s eastern bypass area, killing 10 people instantly and injuring 33 others. The explosion was powerful enough to shatter windows in nearby houses and buildings across Model Town and adjoining localities.
According to security officials, the attacker was disguised in an FC uniform and accompanied by five other terrorists. A swift response by security forces neutralized all six militants, though two FC personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
The militant group Fiqhiya al-Hindustan claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing. Investigators recovered 15 hand grenades, heavy weapons, and 25–30 kilograms of explosives used in the attack.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) under the Anti-Terrorism Act, murder, attempted murder, and other charges. Investigations are ongoing to trace facilitators and networks behind the Quetta blast.
