In a major breakthrough against narcotics cultivation, the Balochistan Excise and Taxation Department, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, destroyed 110 acres of opium and other drug-producing crops during a large-scale operation in Tehsil Gulistan.

According to official reports, the operation was conducted across Abdul Rahmanzai, Inayatullah Karez, and nearby areas, where 100 acres of land were completely cleared, while 10 acres were partially affected due to water scarcity. This latest effort brings the total destroyed narcotic cultivation area in Gulistan to 1,609 acres, marking a significant milestone in the province’s ongoing anti-drug campaign.

Authorities used nine weedicide spray machines, eight grass-cutting machines, and two tractors during the operation. In addition, a borehole used for illegal drug cultivation was demolished to prevent future misuse of the land.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti warned that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in opium cultivation across the province. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to eliminate the narcotics menace in close coordination with federal institutions, ensuring that Balochistan becomes completely free from drug-related activities.

District officials also vowed to continue such targeted operations in the coming days to ensure the complete eradication of narcotic cultivation from the region.
