News Desk — Security Sources:
In a major cross-border escalation, Pakistan has launched powerful artillery strikes targeting Taliban posts along the Pak-Afghan border, following unprovoked firing from the Afghan side, security sources confirmed.
According to the latest intelligence, Pakistan’s security forces are conducting precision operations against Khwarij and ISIS terrorist hideouts located near the border inside Afghanistan. The strikes were carried out in Nangarhar, Kunar, and Paktia regions, where militants are believed to be sheltering.
Security officials reported that Afghan forces have retreated from several positions after facing intense retaliatory fire. Heavy clashes were reported at three to four border points, with artillery and heavy weapons used on both sides.
The sources further stated that Pakistan’s response is ongoing and highly effective, aimed at neutralizing terrorist threats emerging from across the border.
According to security sources, Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire on multiple locations along the Pak-Afghan border, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha (Balochistan) a short while ago.
At least 19 Afghan posts that allegedly facilitated terrorist groups were successfully targeted, security sources said.
Total casualty figures remain unclear, but following the night’s hostilities, the Torkham border crossing was closed by Pakistani authorities. According to The Khorasan Diary, the crossing was shut down in response to Afghan aggression. Quraishi Badloon, head of Information and Culture, said Pakistan closed the Torkham border on Sunday for passengers, trade convoys and refugees.
Security sources revealed that the purpose of this firing was to facilitate the infiltration of Khwarij formations across the border.
Pakistan Army’s alert and vigilant border posts immediately and effectively retaliated, engaging Afghan positions with intense and precise fire, which continues even now.
Security sources confirmed that Pakistan Army’s swift and strong response destroyed multiple Afghan border posts, resulting in dozens of Afghan soldiers and Khwarij militants killed.
Reports indicate that Taliban fighters have abandoned several posts and fled, leaving bodies scattered at the scene, according to security sources.
Security officials added that this act of aggression from Afghanistan coincides with the Afghan Foreign Minister’s ongoing visit to India, raising questions about the timing and intent behind the provocation.
