Quetta, October 18:

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz Tragedy on its 18th anniversary, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice in defending democracy, political stability, and the people’s rights in Pakistan.

In his message, CM Bugti said that the Karsaz attack marked a dark yet historic chapter in Pakistan’s political journey. He stated that the assault on Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s convoy was not just an act of terrorism, but an attack on democratic values and the spirit of public resistance.

He highlighted that more than 150 Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers were martyred and hundreds injured, adding that their sacrifice symbolizes courage, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to the preservation of democracy in Pakistan. The Chief Minister said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto devoted her life to strengthening the federation, promoting democratic values, and ensuring the protection of public rights. Her martyrdom, he added, remains a timeless symbol of democratic strength and sacrifice that continues to inspire generations of Pakistanis.

He further said that the Balochistan Government is fully committed to political tolerance, national unity, and the promotion of democratic harmony across the country. He also expressed solidarity with the families of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and other martyrs who laid down their lives for a democratic Pakistan.
