Panjgur: The brother of Balochistan Assembly member and National Party leader Rahmat Saleh was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Panjgur district on Friday, according to police sources.

The victim, Waleed Saleh, the youngest brother of MPA Rahmat Saleh, was standing at the gate of his residence in the Chitkan area when armed men opened fire, killing him on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after the incident.

Law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene soon after the shooting and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators. Police said the attack appeared to be targeted, though the motive remains under investigation.

The body of the deceased was shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities, while security was tightened in the area to prevent further untoward incidents.

In a strongly worded statement, the National Party condemned the killing of its worker and the brother of MPA Rahmat Saleh, calling it a cowardly act of violence. The party demanded that the government and law enforcement agencies immediately arrest those responsible and ensure justice for the victim’s family.

The statement further emphasized that such acts of targeted violence are attempts to destabilize peace in Balochistan and discourage democratic voices, but the party vowed to continue its struggle through democratic and peaceful means.
