Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly has decided to hold an in-camera session to discuss the province’s deteriorating law and order situation. The decision came after Speaker Captain (Retired) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai issued a ruling on a request made by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and other lawmakers during Monday’s session.

Members of the Balochistan Assembly expressed serious concern over the recent targeted killing in Panjgur, where Waleed Baloch, the younger brother of National Party MPA Rahmat Saleh Baloch, was shot dead outside his home during a family wedding.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the Panjgur killing, describing it as a cowardly act, and vowed that those involved would be brought to justice. “Condemnation is too small a word for such incidents,” he said, stressing that all political parties must unite to eliminate terrorism and extremism from Balochistan. He added that no one should be allowed to play with the lives of innocent people under the pretext of deprivation or poverty.

National Party President Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said his party was being punished for its democratic and constitutional struggle. He maintained that the National Party would not bow before terrorists and would continue to mobilize the people to demand justice for the slain party worker.

Lawmakers from both the treasury and opposition benches expressed grave concern over the worsening security situation in Balochistan and called for collective efforts to restore peace and stability.

The assembly also discussed other key issues, including administrative challenges, governance, and public safety across the province.
