Veteran religious scholar and former Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, has remarried at the remarkable age of 92, making headlines across Pakistan. The news of his second marriage has gone viral on national media platforms and social media.

According to details, the nikah ceremony took place in Islamabad in a simple and dignified setting. The event was attended by close relatives, senior religious scholars, and other notable personalities who congratulated Maulana Sherani on the occasion. His bride hails from Gilgit-Baltistan, and the marriage was solemnized in full accordance with Islamic traditions.

Confirming the news himself, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani stated that this was indeed his second marriage, adding that his first wife had passed away earlier.

A respected figure in Pakistan’s religious and political circles, Maulana Sherani has served as Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology and is widely known for his contributions to religious scholarship and national debates on Islamic legislation.

Previously, he was a senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) but was expelled from the party on December 25, 2020, following a unanimous decision by its Disciplinary Committee, comprising Agha Ayub Shah, Maulana Abdul Wasay, and Maulana Abdul Hakeem.
