Armed assailants launched an attack on a police station in the Bhag Nari area of Balochistan’s Kachhi district, resulting in the martyrdom of the Station House Officer (SHO) and injuries to two policemen, officials confirmed on Monday.

According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Kachhi, the attackers hurled hand grenades and opened indiscriminate fire at the Bhag Police Station late at night. The SHO Bhag Nari, Inspector Latif Ali Khosa, who hailed from the Sohbatpur district, was martyred during the exchange of fire.

Police officials said the attackers faced resistance as law enforcement personnel retaliated, killing one of the assailants on the spot. The intense gun battle continued for several minutes, causing panic in the surrounding area.

SP Kachhi said that two other police constables were also injured during the clash and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, where their condition was reported to be stable.

Security forces later cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the remaining attackers involved in the assault.

The deadly attack highlights the increasing security threats to law enforcement personnel in Balochistan, where police and Levies forces frequently come under fire from armed groups targeting government institutions and security installations.
