A hand grenade attack targeting a police patrol van in Dera Murad Jamali left 13 people injured, including two police personnel, women, and children, on Wednesday evening.
According to SSP Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo, unidentified attackers hurled a grenade at a police mobile near Shah Petrol Pump while officers were conducting routine patrol duties. The powerful blast caused injuries to several people in the vicinity, shattering nearby windows and spreading panic in the area.
Among the injured were police officials Shamsuddin and Abdul Rasheed Junejo, along with civilians identified as Gul Babo, Mahad, Syed Khan, Nazir Solangi, Ahmed, Barkat Abro, Muhammad Nawaz Bhangar, Muhammad Ishaq Mengal, and Imam Bakhsh.
Soon after the explosion, a large contingent of police and security forces reached the site, cordoned off the area, and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have started a search operation to locate and apprehend the attackers.
Officials said that investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the assault and whether it was part of a broader campaign targeting law enforcement in the region.
