From Our Correspondent:Â
Armed militants launched an attack on a passenger train, the Jaffar Express, near Notal in Dera Murad Jamali, late Tuesday night. The assailants reportedly opened fire and fired multiple rockets at the moving train, triggering panic among passengers. Security forces swiftly retaliated, forcing the attackers to retreat.
According to railway officials, some train bogies suffered minor damage, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. The prompt and coordinated response from the security personnel prevented what could have been a major tragedy.
Soon after the incident, the train was brought to a halt at Dera Murad Jamali Railway Station, where security forces launched an extensive search operation in the surrounding areas to locate the perpetrators. Officials confirmed that all passengers were safe and the situation was quickly brought under control.
It is worth noting that the Jaffar Express has been targeted several times in the past. Earlier this year, the train was hijacked in the rugged Bolan Valley, and in September last year, it came under attack near Quetta Railway Station.
Authorities have expressed serious concern over these recurring security incidents and assured that strict measures are being implemented to enhance protection along the railway routes, particularly in vulnerable regions of Balochistan.
