Monitoring Desk:

Istanbul: Pakistan has agreed to resume dialogue with the Afghan Taliban following a request from the friendly country Turkey, diplomatic sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The Pakistani delegation, which was earlier scheduled to depart from Istanbul, has now decided to extend its stay to participate in the next round of discussions. The move aims to give peace and regional stability another chance, sources said.

According to officials familiar with the development, Pakistan reiterated its principal demand that the Afghan authorities take concrete, verifiable, and effective action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil. Islamabad has maintained that Afghanistan must ensure its territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

The resumption of talks comes amid a period of heightened tension between the two neighboring countries. However, observers view Turkey’s diplomatic engagement as a positive and constructive step toward rebuilding trust and addressing mutual security concerns.

Sources added that both sides are expected to discuss border security, counterterrorism cooperation, and the safe return of refugees during the ongoing discussions in Istanbul.
